One more night???

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

Hi everyone, this is Crystal. We found out tonight around 6:45pm that the doctor's want to keep Emily over another night. Yesterday Emily started to swell up on the left side of her face where she had surgery. Every time I brought it up to a nurse or a doctor they told me that it was normal after this kind of a surgery and they weren't worried about it. All day we were told that as soon as they took out Emily's drain she could go home. Instead they decided to keep her over night for more observation. If her swelling does not go down they will give her an ultra sound in the morning to see if there is any blood clotting. If there is Emily will have to be on a blood thinner for the next 6 months. At this point I am not feeling optimistic, I am feeling beat up and just wondering what's next? Poor Emily can barely lift her head off of her shoulder and her right hand is VERY sore, but she has been just such an amazing patient. EVERYONE says that she is just the best patient they have ever had.

My sister Corey drove me home tonight so I could see Madison whom I haven't seen since Sunday night. We also do not have a baby-sitter for tomorrow. I can't wait for the morning to see Madison. I hate being separated from my children and Scott more than anything. Hopefully Scott and Emily will be able to come home tomorrow.

Please pray that Emily's swelling does go down and that she does not have any clotting. Scott and I are very grateful for everyone who has been praying for Emily and for us.

PS If I ever moved (and that would only be if I could take my family, Scott's family, and my friends with me---because for me home is where my family is) I would choose to live in Michigan or Alaska! I like states where most of the year people have clothes on (which is why I also like Illinois)!

(((hugs))) all around!

I am very tired and completely worn out. So if this letter seems ditsy that's why. I also have a load of fun pictures (thanks to the fabulous Delaere's for letting us use their camera). I will have to wait to post them until Scott gets home to show me how to get them off the camera.

Crystal, Scott and family...we here in Michigan have been praying for you all, essp. Emily. I liked your comment about Michigan, it is pretty nice here!! Thanks for your updates, we read your blog and also hear from Gpa Kunze in his updates. There are also others in our circle of friends who are praying for Emily as well. I pray you will feel the arms of the loving Jesus surround you and the prayers of God's people up lift you in this trying time. God bless, and HE is good, all the time. (guess who that comes from). Our love to you all, Dick and Janet DeLaere (Jeff's parents)

I just read about your family and want you to know we are praying for you all. We lost our three daughters last year in an airplane wreck...we are still recovering but know that God is soverign and NOTHING happens outside of His plan. It is all to bring Him glory and really we can't wait to get to Heaven. Love from some people in Alaska...(where we keep our clothes on:) He,He)

Hi, Michelle!!!

It's Leah J. (church) :)

Isn't it strange how we can bump into people we know in real life, here on the internet??? You might like checking out the Choosing Home site (there's a link here on Crystal's page). There are a few local ladies on the site and lots of great encouragement.

You often cross my mind, Michelle, and I specifically pray for strength in your marriage. I cannot imagine the pain you have felt this past year, but I often recall watching you and J. lift your hands in prayer at the service for the girls. It touched me in a lifelong way.

ANYWAY, I got off topic here on Crystal's page... :)

Glad to have "bumped into you"!

Blessings,
~Leah

Umm about Michigan. They don't do so well around here some days. I gotta be honest. It can be down right embarrassing. Around late April everyone gets sick of their sweaters and decides to strip nearly naked. So it is fine most of the year but there we are definitely entering the blushing season.
