Emily update...

Friday, May 05, 2006

Emily had her appointment this morning with her surgeon. I just got off the phone with Scott and he said everything went good. He said when he got there that there were about 10 people in front of them and he thought they would have to wait a long time. BUT as soon as he signed Emily in a nurse came out and made such a big deal about Emily. She said Emily was so pretty and she looked so beautiful in her dress. Then she paraded her around the waiting room showing her off to patients and staff. Everyone who knew or knew about Emily was so excited to see her.

The surgeon said that Emily looks great and is healing nicely. We asked him about some puffiness and soreness in Emily's back up by her shoulders. He told Scott that there was a nerve by Emily's shoulder that was bumped and pushed around but that she should be back to normal soon. He also said that they took out 28 lymph nodes and that only 2 of them were cancer that is including the giant tumor lymph node. So that was good news. He told Scott that he wanted to wait about a month now for her next surgery to allow for more healing. Emily said to him, "Well, my mom thought you were going to do it in 2 weeks, and I'm just worried because I don't want to do it before June 2nd because that's my aunt's birthday." Then the doctor smiled and said, "OH, well let me check my date book" and pulled it out and tentatively set it for June 6th.

So that is pretty much all the information we have for right now. The doctor will call us at the end of the month to set everything up. So unless we are told otherwise Emily will have her next (and hopefully her last) surgery on June 6th.

Again thank you everyone for you faithfulness and continued prayers.

Praise God thanks for the update.

Here is a song of encouragement

Praise you in this storm
by Casting Crowns

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen"
and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

Chorus:
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

We will continue to pray with and for your beautiful family. I know that sometimes when I have been in the midst of struggles, even a little good news just boosts my spirits. This seems to be the case, the tone of your posts has changed back to the lighthearted, happy way you posted before all of this, and I thank God for bouying you up! I pray your spirits will continue to be boosted.

I don't know if this would help Emily or not. But, when I had my hysterectomy/pelvic reconstruction done in October my siatic nerve was irritated. It bothered me for months after ward. I got some Frankinsense EO and mixed 5 drops/tsp of almond massage oil. I rubbed this on the leg twice a day and it really took the inflamation away.
