We don't have any news yet as to when Emily will have her radiation. She had a blood test on Thursday to see if her TSH levels are high enough to start radiation. On Friday she had a Pulmonary Function test to make sure her lungs were healthy enough to handle radiation. We are waiting to hear from the Doctors for the results. I just wanted to keep you all updated.

Emily wants you all to know this...

"I'm doing GREAT! And I'm a little excited about radiation (This coming from the same girl who cried almost an hour after she found out she would have to stay in the hospital without her mom and dad). I'm still going to miss my family but I'll still have fun anyway. I'm bringing lots of things to help me keep busy and Mom and Dad are going to call me 20,000 times a day. I will miss my cat Pippy because she always snuggles with me at night and I like to feed her and play with her. But I know Mom and Dad will take good care of her. I thank you all for praying for me."

Emily also wanted me to put up her current favorite song. This girl is JUST like her Daddy when it comes to music (and nearly everything else too)!!

Emily loves this song because she thinks is "complicated and funny". OY!

How do you post those songs?

Well Sadie Lou Who I will tell you...just audioblog.com and it is 4.95 a month. I only got it so I could post a song for Scot for our anniversary and I was suppose to cancel after 7 days (there is a 7 day free trial) and I forgot and thought I would use it again. I think Scott wants me to cancel it though because it cost 5$.

oh. Yeah, I thought it was free.
Bummer.

I know that Emily will miss pippy, and I don't know what specific rules there are for radiation area at Loyola. However, at the hospital where I work, if a patient has a veterinarian sign that a pet has had all legally required shots, and the patient's family member takes responsibility for the animal's behavior, the pet can visit. Just a suggestion you might want to look at.

That song ROCKS! Oh man, it's so cool!

Emily is the bravest little girl I know! PRAYING HARD!!!

BTW:
The "Praise the Lord" thing is about old memories revisited for Jeff and I...
I just found (I should say that Jeff found them for me:)) some of my old favorite music...The Violet Burning...they made a significant impact on me and my jouney with Jesus...and good old Pat and the 700 club was Jeff's turning point to follow Him.

Please tell Emily that my family and I are praying for her and we won't stop! :-) Also, what kind of cat is Pippy? She's very pretty! Denise

I remember you wrote that she had to stay away from people for a certain amount of time after her radiation, but why? and how long?

Sammy ~ That's interesting. Emily will be fine not seeing her cat for a few days. She has done it a million times. She just really loves her cat and feels a little like Pippy's mommy.

Jami ~ TMBG do ROCK! That's so sweet Jami about finding your old tapes. It must have been so great for you and Jeff to remember those times.

Denise ~ THANKS SO MUCH Denise!!! I will tell her for sure. Pippy is part Maine Coon and that’s all I know. I'm not sure what the father cat was. Pippy was the runt of the litter and most of her brothers and sister turned out to be about 25 lbs and GOREGOUS. I know this because we got Pippy from one of my best friends. Pippy however is REALLY small and has short hair. She is the best cat ever and she is ALWAYS by Emily. She even kisses Emily on the nose SEVERAL times a day whenever Emily rubs her face on hers. It's SO cute. She is for sure Emily's cat. Frankie and I want to get a tiny dog! Thanks for asking. And thanks SO much for praying!! =o)

Missy ~ Emily will have to be in complete isolation for around 3 days because she will be radioactive. Scott and I will be able to see her for about 30 mins a day.

My 8 yr old daughter, Amie, asked how old Emily is. She has been faithfully praying for Emily everyday. I've been praying for Emily too. She's a very cheerful girl.

Emily, Crystal and family,

Just blogging by to check in and catch up with things and to let you know what a blessing and a strength you are to others who have walked this path.

To let you know that you continue to be in my prayers.

Many times as I went through Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, it was the children who would often times come up to me at CTRC (Cancer Therapy and Research Center) and just say "It is going to be all right" and many times I was in tears, as the Lord spoke through this children and it gave me strength, to reach out to others, even as I do today, through Hill Country Thoughts. I am heading towards my fourth year of being cancer free.

Again, thanks for the encouragement, the songs shared. I love the site. I love Sun Flowers. One of the articles I wrote several years ago was about the awesomeness of the sun flower.

Blessings to you Emily and to your family!

Writing for the King,

Paul
