Emily came home last Wednesday after a 3 day stay in the hospital. She did VERY well and did NOT need a catheter! Emily kept track of how much she peed for the doctor and on Tuesday she told us that since 5pm Monday until 10am on Tuesday she went SEVENTEEN times! I forgot to ask how much she went total but SHEESH, 17 times! She went that often because she had to drink pretty much non stop to get the radiation out of her since it comes out mostly through urine.
While Emily was in the hospital her AMAZING doctor gave her a Game Boy Advance!!!!!!! He also gave her about 6 or 7 games. What kind of doctor does that? I'll tell ya the best kind does that's who! Emily LOVES it and was so excited when she got it and plays it all the time and even shares with her brother. =)
Anyway, after Emily came home she had to be sort of isolated for 5 days in the sense that she couldn't sit next to anyone any longer than she needed to. Like at dinner time was OK but she couldn't sit next to anyone for long periods of time. She had to flush 2-3 times after each time she used the bathroom. I had to clean the toilet a LOT, along with the sink and the bath (guess who didn't take very many baths!). She also had to use separate towels and no kissing or sharing food/drinks or tooth brushes/paste. I also had to keep her way from our 2 year old, more like keep the 2 year old away from her!
Things are pretty much back to normal now. We found out that because Emily has so little cancer left in her that unless her blood tests come back funny (which she will have every 3 months) she will not need to be scanned for a year. So things are on the up and up! Emily is NOT cured but I pray we are getting there.
Please continue to pray for Emily's complete healing! Also pray that she never develops another type of cancer. Radiation increases your chances for getting another cancer which usually shows up in 20 years post treatment and usually in the form of breast cancer or lymphoma. And each time you receive a treatment your chances for that are increased that much more. The other down side of radiation is the more treatments you have the more it increases your chances for recurrence as well as how young you are and if you have cancer in your lungs. So Emily has a lot going against her BUT BUT BUT she has a LOT more for her I believe! We have God's strength and a faith that isn't going anywhere! So please keep Emily in your prayers and pray that her cancer disappears all the way and never ever comes back in any shape or form!
Thanks again everyone for praying for our Emily! I will be sure to keep you informed on any news!

Thanks for the update. Emily is such a brave girl. I know that it helps so much for her to have Jesus with her too. She is a role model for others because of all this that she's gone through. I know that Amie thinks of Emily as one who is very strong, maybe not in muscle as much, but in her spirit.
I also think that you are strong in spirit because of all you have gone through. I know you have had depression and such, but you are still trusting in God and that is the most important thing. You remind me all the time that God is the One in control and not me.
So, this comment in a nutshell... Thanks for blogging all this. It is a great witness to others. {{hugs}} I can't wait to meet you.
WOW! I never knew it was so much work when she came home. Poor girl, you know how much she loves hugs & kisses! Guess you all have some making up to do!
I sure wish we lived closer. I would so come over, take Maddy {who you should just give to me anyways, even though Arwen & Kylie would mommy her to death} and Frank {who would have a super duper good time with Lucas} and let you & Em have some time to get it all back to normal, then I would make you all a huge homemade lasagna! Then when Scott & Michael were home {with the kiddo's}, you & I would go grab some margaritas! Because I know you could use some girlfriend time right now!
Crystal, I admire you so much! You and your strength, faith & bubbly attitude just uplift me! You, dhaling, are AMAZING!
I waited on some people Saturday night from Chicao, I asked them if they knew you, and they didn't, {they were vacationing to N. Carolina} but somehow when I was walking out with them, and seen their Ill plate, I just felt so close to you, and missed you so bad all at the same time! I really want to come visit you, we need a good old visit!
I love you to pieces, and hopefully one day soon, we will get together!
{now that you can} hug Emily for me ok!
MUAHHHHHHH
